Create a vacation countdown before you leave

Count the days until your next trip, keep departure details clear and add a reminder for the things you need to do before you go.

Pick one clear starting point

A trip can begin when you finish work, leave home or board a plane. Choose the date that matters to you and name the countdown accordingly. “Summer vacation” works for anticipation; “Flight to Lisbon” is better when the exact departure time matters.

Add your trip

  1. Create a countdown in the iOS app or web app.
  2. Enter the trip name and date. If you include a time, check it against your booking.
  3. Pick a color and emoji to make the trip easy to find.
  4. Save the event and review the displayed date before sharing it.

Keep travel time zones straight

Airline bookings usually show departure and arrival in their respective local time zones. Check the time zone on the booking and the date shown by your countdown, especially for overnight flights. Keep the original booking as the source of truth; a countdown is not a replacement for an airline itinerary.

Prepare before the last day

Use reminders in the iOS app for the event itself. You can also create separate dated countdowns for a passport appointment, a payment deadline or the day packing needs to be finished. Notes can hold the details you want next to a date.

Share the anticipation

Share the vacation countdown from the app so other people can see the same event. When travel plans change, check the shared date and update the countdown as needed. Avoid putting private booking references in a public-facing title.

See the days without opening the app

Premium widgets bring the trip to your Home Screen or Lock Screen. Here is how to set one up. For public holidays around a trip, browse the holiday directory and select the relevant country.
